Bayelsa disburses N150,000 and POS terminals to 600 entrepreneurs
Six hundred young entrepreneurs in Bayelsa State, including women and youths, received N150,000 each in business support and free PoS terminals. These beneficiaries successfully completed training and registration with the Federal University Otuoke under the Douye Diri Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme. The disbursement occurred during activities for the 2026 World Entrepreneurship Day. Governor Douye Diri, represented by his deputy Peter Akpe, stated that his administration would continue to foster an environment for businesses to thrive and emphasized skills acquisition as a solution to capital flight. He also urged school curriculum planners to integrate practical skills and entrepreneurship development. Mrs. Charity Kens-Godwin, Technical Adviser on Entrepreneurship Development, noted that over 5,000 Bayelsans have been trained and equipped with skills, and her office has facilitated the registration of about 2,000 businesses with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria. Over 32,000 applications have been received for the program's fourth phase.
