Palestinian Authority states Gaza ceasefire's second phase remains unimplemented amid ongoing Israeli operations
The Palestinian Authority has stated that the agreement for the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire is "only on paper" due to continued Israeli military operations against Palestinians. Presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh reported that Israeli authorities are continuing a "comprehensive war" against the Palestinian people, citing the deaths of 18 people in the Gaza Strip despite the ceasefire announcement. Abu Rudeineh described the agreement as having failed to end fighting or protect Palestinians, calling it "an agreement on paper and death on the ground." He accused Tel Aviv of disregarding international efforts to halt what he termed "Israeli crimes of genocide" and warned against the continued targeting of Palestinian refugee camps and villages, which he said are part of plans to undermine the Palestinian presence. The spokesperson urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to compel Israel to implement the ceasefire's second phase, end military operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, and provide international protection for Palestinians.
