Unions accuse Botswana's UDC government of failing on election promises

Unions claim that patience is running out, particularly regarding unresolved salary negotiations that have been ongoing for nearly two years and have escalated to the courts. Robert Rabasimane, deputy CEO of the Manual Workers Union, stated during a media briefing that trade unions collectively believe the government has failed to address pressing problems and that Batswana should recognize the administration's shortcomings. He urged the UDC to acknowledge its failures and allow for a new administration.

The UDC was elected on pledges to improve lives, create jobs, protect workers, and enhance public services, but unions argue that these promises remain unfulfilled.
