
African Union of Broadcasting advocates for stronger audiovisual cooperation between Africa and China at BIRTV 2026
The 13th Beijing International Radio, Television and Film Exhibition BIRTV opened on August 18, 2026, in Beijing, China, bringing together audiovisual professionals globally. The African Union of Broadcasting AUB reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing cooperation between Africa and China in technology, training, and audiovisual content circulation. Gr茅goire Ndjaka, the AUB representative, highlighted BIRTV's role as a major platform for technological innovation, professional exchanges, commercial cooperation, and international dialogue for over three decades. He emphasized that the rapid transformation of the audiovisual sector necessitates that African media adopt suitable technological tools, including high-definition and ultra-high-definition production, cloud solutions, digital distribution, and multimedia platforms. Ndjaka noted the increasing importance of cooperation with China, particularly its contribution to modernizing audiovisual infrastructure in several African countries. The AUB itself has benefited from Chinese support, including equipment for its Abuja, Nigeria operations, which has strengthened its capacity to facilitate exchanges among African broadcasters. Ndjaka stressed that technological solutions for Africa must be advanced, affordable, flexible, reliable, and adapted to African realities.
