Troops rescue 14 kidnapped victims in Katsina during counter-terrorism operation

The rescue operation, which took place on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, followed intelligence reports about the movement of terrorists with abducted individuals near Madaci Forest. According to Lit-Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, troops engaged the terrorists, who then abandoned their captives and fled. The rescued group included six males and eight females, who were reportedly abducted from various locations in the Dandume, Bakori, and Funtua areas of the state.

The victims have since been handed over to local authorities for reunification with their families. Lit-Col. Danja emphasized the military's commitment to protecting lives and intensifying operations against terrorist elements in the North-West, urging public cooperation through timely information.
