Tripoli opens three 24-hour diesel stations for trucks amid supply shortages

This initiative aims to address a chronic diesel supply issue, particularly affecting truck operators, and follows instructions from the Tripoli government. The move comes during a summer marked by power cuts in Libya, which have impacted petrol station operations and led to diesel shortages and inflated black-market prices, with some paying LD 8 per liter compared to the official LD 0.15. The scarcity of diesel has also affected trade and industry, as it is crucial for operating generators.

Brega stated this action is part of the Committee for Improving Basic Services for Citizens' efforts, tasked by the Prime Minister, and is coordinated with the Regional Security Directorates Support Agency. The Agency is responsible for organizing and securing supply at the operational stations: Station 406 – Al-Ahya Al-Barriya, Station 396 – Al-Hadba Project, and Station 062 – Al-Hadba Project. Additionally, two mobile stations are being set up on Airport Road.

These measures are intended to alleviate bottlenecks, regulate truck traffic, and ensure a consistent diesel supply for the transport sector.
