Rigathi Gachagua alleges President Ruto's administration plans to rig 2027 elections and diverts security funds
Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has accused President William Ruto's administration of preparing to manipulate the 2027 General Election. Speaking at his Wamunyoro residence, Gachagua claimed that government operatives intend to introduce a new system for rigging votes. He mentioned Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho and IEBC Vice Chairperson Fahima Arafat Abdallah in connection with these allegations, though he did not provide evidence. Gachagua stated he was awaiting further details before his trip to the United States. Additionally, he alleged that over KSh 5 billion designated for covert security operations had been diverted by Ruto and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, leaving intelligence agencies underfunded. Gachagua claimed to have spoken with police officers, DCI, and NIS officials who raised concerns about funding. He also stated that officers in specialized security units, including the Special Operations Group, General Service Unit, and the president's security detail, have not received their allowances, leading to demoralization.
