President William Ruto reveals attempts to engage former President Uhuru Kenyatta in national vision

Ruto first met Uhuru at his Ichaweri home and later at his Nairobi office. The president explained that these visits aimed to persuade Uhuru to use his experience as a former head of state to help develop a long-term vision for the country. Ruto mentioned that the idea stemmed from discussions with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga about how senior political leaders could collaborate on a national vision to pass on to younger generations.

Ruto emphasized Uhuru's importance to this initiative as the only living former head of state at the time. However, Ruto claimed Uhuru was reluctant to take on the proposed role and chose to remain active in opposition politics, rather than becoming a unifying statesman.
