Sungrow begins construction of $50 million energy storage factory in Egypt

This facility, the first of its kind in the Middle East and Africa, will assemble energy storage systems and is expected to create over 100 jobs in manufacturing, production, and technical operations, with a focus on local recruitment. Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem stated the project will support Egypt’s clean energy transition by stabilizing the national electricity grid and increasing its capacity for renewable energy integration. He also noted the investment will transfer advanced technology, develop skilled Egyptian professionals, and support local feeder industries.

Hashem urged the company to increase the use of locally manufactured components and collaborate with Egyptian institutions. The project aligns with Egypt’s industrial strategy to build a competitive manufacturing base and attract advanced technology investments. Suez Canal Economic Zone Chairman Mostafa Shekoun highlighted the project as a step towards localizing energy storage manufacturing and expanding Egypt’s renewable energy industries, reflecting confidence in the zone’s infrastructure and the growing economic partnership between Egypt and China.
