Burkinabe Public Treasury raises 151.5 billion FCFA through Diaspora Bonds
The Burkinabe Public Treasury successfully raised 151.5 billion FCFA through its "TPBF Diaspora Bonds 6.75% 2026-2031" and "TPBF Diaspora Bonds 6.85% 2026-2033" bond issues. The operation, initially aiming to mobilize 125 billion FCFA, exceeded expectations with a subscription rate over 121%. The first listing ceremony took place on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Regional Stock Exchange BRVM in Abidjan. The bonds are divided into two tranches: a five-year maturity at 6.75% and a seven-year maturity at 6.85%. Patind茅 Wendinda Jean Yves Belem, Director General of the Treasury and Public Accounts of Burkina Faso, stated that this result reflects confidence in the Burkinabe state and the diaspora's commitment to financing the country. Edoh Kossi Amenounv茅, Director General of the BRVM, highlighted the importance of mobilizing savings from the African diaspora for national development and emphasized the need for African countries to diversify their financing sources. Yao Kouassi, Director General of Vista Group Holding, and Alexis Lourgo, Director General of Soci茅t茅 burkinab猫 d鈥檌nterm茅diation financi猫re SBIF, both co-arrangers, praised the success of the operation, viewing it as an encouraging sign for future diaspora savings mobilization efforts.
