Prosecutors and magistrates transferred from Ondangwa Magistrate Court after colleague's murder
Three prosecutors and two magistrates from the Ondangwa Magistrate Court have been transferred to new duty stations following the murder of control prosecutor Justine Shiweda. Prosecutor general Martha Imalwa stated that the transfers are intended to help the affected officials recover from the trauma of Shiweda's killing. Shiweda was attacked with corrosive acid and shot at her home on October 17 last year, dying from her injuries in February. Imalwa emphasized that the decision was not due to misconduct but to provide a healing environment, as staying in the same workplace could trigger painful memories. The transfers, which occurred last month, involved magistrates Kaevarua Njembo and Nelao ya France, and prosecutors Wisdom Ndakondja, Yeukai Kangira, and Naledi Hoeses. Another prosecutor, Charly Iiyambo, also left the station, and prosecutor Tony Bock reportedly resigned after the incident. An official noted that attending the crime scene, visiting Shiweda in the hospital, and then dealing with the accused in court proceedings created significant emotional strain. Police allege that a criminal gang, directed by former police officer Abner Mateus, carried out Shiweda's killing; Mateus and other accused remain in custody.
