Sadi bypasses technical committee in coach selection, negotiates with Portuguese trainer
As the September football gathering approaches, the Algerian team remains without a head coach. According to the specialized daily Comp茅tition, a Portuguese coach has entered discussions with the Algerian Football Federation FAF. The coach, whose name is undisclosed, is currently managing a club team and is negotiating his release to potentially succeed Vladimir Petkovi膰. This development suggests the FAF has made its choice and is finalizing arrangements before an official announcement. Earlier reports linking Uruguayan Gustavo Poyet and Spanish coach Felix Sanchez to the position were unfounded or cooled off, frustrating public opinion. The technical committee, initially tasked with guiding the decision, has seen its influence diminish. Its work in early August produced a shortlist of three candidates: S谩nchez Bas, Rafael Ben铆tez, and Belgian Tom Saintfiet, none of whom appear to be current considerations. The FAF, led by Walid Sadi, is now exploring other avenues and activating its own networks, indicating a clear move to regain full control over the sensitive matter of national team coach selection following Petkovi膰's departure after a disappointing American World Cup.
