Idrissa Gana Gueye's Al-Diriyah debut ends in defeat against Edouard Mendy's Al-Ahli
Senegalese international Idrissa Gana Gueye's debut for Al-Diriyah in the Saudi Arabian championship resulted in a 0-1 loss to Al-Ahli. Gueye, a former Paris Saint-Germain and Everton midfielder, played his first match for Al-Diriyah on August 13. Al-Ahli, without Edouard Mendy due to a knee injury, secured the win with a strong performance from Abdulrahman Al-Sanbi. Gueye, 36, joined Al-Diriyah on August 9 after seven seasons with Everton, signing a one-year contract with an option for an additional year. He joins a growing number of Senegalese players in the Gulf region, including Abdou Diallo, Malang Sarr, Abdoulaye Seck, and Dion Lopy. With 130 caps and 7 goals, Gueye is one of Senegal's most capped players and a key figure in their continental successes.
