Senegalese Football Federation to announce new national coach on Tuesday
Abdoulaye Fall, president of the Senegalese Football Federation FSF, is set to reveal the successor to Pape Thiaw this Tuesday at a press conference at L茅opold S茅dar Senghor stadium. The position has been vacant since July 11, 2023, when the FSF executive committee terminated the functions of national coach Pape Thiaw and his technical staff. This decision followed a 2-1 elimination in the round of 16 of the 2023 World Cup against Belgium, after Senegal had led 2-0. The FSF faces the urgent task of appointing a new coach before the Lions' upcoming matches, including the CAN 2027 qualifiers, which begin in September. The new coach will also be tasked with a generational transition, integrating youth from the U17 and U20 selections. The principle of "national preference," established since Aliou Ciss茅's appointment in 2015, is expected to remain. Togolese coach Dar茅 Nibomb茅, 46, reportedly submitted his application to the FSF. The FSF has not confirmed any official leads, and the identity of the future coach remains unknown until Tuesday's announcement.
