SEEG accelerates project monitoring and interconnection with Equatorial Guinea in Woleu-Ntem

The mission aimed to assess the progress of several construction sites in Oyem, Bitam, Mitzic, Minvoul, and Médouneu, and to ensure the effective implementation of priority projects for the population. A key focus of this mission was the electrical interconnection project between Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, which is being deployed in three phases. The first phase, connecting Ebebiyin to Bitam, is already operational, importing 3 MW of electricity for Bitam and its surrounding areas.

The second phase, linking Oyem-Medzeng, is 50% complete and will connect Oyem directly to the Equatorial Guinean network. The third phase, extending the network to Médouneu, is 40% complete. Ultimately, the system is expected to increase the imported energy capacity from the Ebebiyin hydroelectric plant in Equatorial Guinea to 10 MW.

This aims to provide a more stable, reliable, and sustainable electricity supply to the populations of Bitam, Oyem, Médouneu, Mitzic, and Minvoul. The mission underscores SEEG's commitment to accelerating project implementation, modernizing infrastructure, and addressing the concerns of the population by offering improved public water and electricity services across the country.
