Saraki to engage aggrieved Kwara APC members amid internal party crisis

This development follows a decision by the Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP to mandate Saraki to initiate discussions with the G15 and other political parties to strengthen the opposition. The G15, operating as 'Oto ge Progressives', has accused Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of undermining internal democracy and attempting to impose a succession arrangement for the 2027 governorship election. They warn that the APC faces serious electoral consequences if their grievances are not addressed, citing alleged exclusion from decision-making and attempts to predetermine candidates.

The coalition, which includes prominent figures like Saliu Mustapha and Yahaya Oloriegbe, appealed to the national APC leadership for urgent intervention. They also alleged intimidation and inducements against their supporters. The PDP stakeholders, after a two-day meeting, expressed satisfaction with the party's unity and passed a vote of confidence in Saraki's leadership, emphasizing the importance of unity and sacrifice for future elections, especially if G15 members join the PDP.

A recent encounter between Saraki and members of the Oto ge Progressives at Ilorin International Airport has further fueled speculation about potential political realignments.
