Burkina Faso's Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, that its budget has significantly increased from 249 billion CFA francs in 2020 to 387.65 billion CFA francs in 2026. This represents a rise of 138.65 billion CFA francs over six years. In 2022, the health sector's allocated resources stood at 314 billion CFA francs. According to ministry officials, this budgetary growth reflects the priority placed on public health, aiming to fund health infrastructure, equipment, specialized care, certain free services, medications, and human resources. The ministry also plans a series of publications throughout September to showcase achievements and reforms undertaken in the health sector since 2022.
