Ramaphosa urges African unity against conflict, migration, and economic shocks

He emphasized the need for Africa to speak with one voice to safeguard its interests and accelerate development, citing ongoing challenges such as armed conflict, global economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, and climate change. Ramaphosa urged the Pan-African Parliament to uphold democracy and accountability, ensuring that African Union commitments lead to tangible improvements in people's lives, particularly regarding access to clean water and sanitation. He highlighted the African Continental Free Trade Area as a key driver of growth, advocating for the removal of trade barriers and modernization of customs systems.

The President also called for stronger immigration management, distinguishing between lawful migrants and illegal immigration while rejecting violence and xenophobia, and renewed calls for reform of global institutions like the United Nations Security Council to ensure greater African representation.
