Helicopter carrying Governor Wanga, CS Wandayi, and AG Oduor makes emergency landing in Kericho
A helicopter transporting Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi, and Attorney-General Dorcas Oduor made an emergency landing in Kericho county on Sunday, August 9. The pilot brought the aircraft down at Chepngetuny, near Belgut Technical Training Institute, after weather conditions deteriorated mid-flight. The three officials were en route to a broad-based government joint retreat in Naivasha when the incident occurred. All passengers were unharmed, and the helicopter eventually resumed its journey to Naivasha once flying conditions were safe. Both Governor Wanga and CS Wandayi confirmed their safe arrival at the meeting venue in Naivasha, with Wandayi stating the meeting would focus on strengthening national unity, political stability, and a shared development agenda. This incident follows other recent unscheduled aircraft landings in Kenya due to adverse weather conditions.
