
Dr Nana Ayew Afriye honors late Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, highlighting his contributions and personal qualities
Dr Nana Ayew Afriye, Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore, has paid tribute to the late former Defence Minister, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah. Dr Ayew Afriye described Dr Omane Boamah as a kind-hearted and dedicated individual, emphasizing that his death is a significant loss to Ghana. He noted their shared paths in medicine and politics, stating that despite political differences, their bond remained cordial. Dr Ayew Afriye recalled Dr Omane Boamah's lovable nature, smiling face, and ability to execute tasks to perfection. A maiden Annual Public Lecture will be held to recognize Dr Omane Boamah's contributions to Ghana's national security framework and public service career, focusing on his leadership in the defence sector, regional security cooperation, military welfare, and national defence strategy. The event will also feature discussions by security experts, academics, and defence officials on West African security challenges, civil-military relations, and defence infrastructure modernization. Dr Omane Boamah died on August 6, 2025, in a Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, alongside seven others.
