Former Guinean presidential official's ex-partner arrested in Ghana on Interpol alert
Ghanaian lawyer and activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has alleged that the former partner of Brigadier-General Amara Camara, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the Presidency of Guinea, was arrested in Ghana following an Interpol request from Guinea. Barker-Vormawor claimed on social media that Ms. Bangoura, a Belgian citizen, was arrested on August 4, 2026, upon her arrival in Ghana from Paris. He stated that Ms. Bangoura, who reportedly has two children with Brigadier-General Camara, fled Guinea with her siblings after a contentious breakup, fearing for her safety after allegedly threatening to disclose information about the Guinean official. Barker-Vormawor further alleged that Guinean authorities subsequently issued an Interpol Red Notice for Ms. Bangoura to compel her return. Ms. Bangoura has reportedly informed Ghanaian authorities that her life would be at risk if she were returned to Guinea and intends to seek political asylum in Ghana.
