Real Madrid signs Yan Diomandé for €140 million
Real Madrid has completed the signing of 19-year-old Ivorian international Yan Diomandé from RB Leipzig for €140 million, including bonuses. Diomandé, who was the revelation of last season's Bundesliga, had initially been expected to join Paris Saint-Germain after an agreement was reached on a five-year contract. However, Real Madrid intervened, securing the transfer for €125 million plus €15 million in bonuses, with €10 million of these easily achievable. The former Leganés player has signed a contract with Real Madrid until June 30, 2033, making him the most expensive player in the club's history, surpassing Jude Bellingham. Diomandé's single season at RB Leipzig saw him score 12 goals and provide 8 assists in the Bundesliga, attracting interest from top European clubs like Liverpool and PSG. He becomes the first Ivorian player to join Real Madrid, the most expensive African player in football history, and enters the top 10 most costly transfers globally.
