Senegal Football Federation appoints Patrick Vieira as national team coach with ambitious four-year mandate
The Senegalese Football Federation has appointed Patrick Vieira as the national team coach for a four-year term, under the "Vision 2030" strategic plan. Vieira's mission includes leading the Lions to the final and winning the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The federation considers anything less than winning the trophy a failure. For the 2030 FIFA World Cup, co-organized by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, the FSF requires Senegal to reach at least the quarter-finals. Malick Daf, winner of the 2023 U20 AFCON, is a strong candidate to become Vieira's assistant, bringing local expertise and knowledge of Senegalese football. The appointment signals a strong ambition for Senegal to achieve top-tier success in African and global football.
