Onanga Ndiaye raises alarm on youth deaths and unemployment, urges government action

He described a somber reality where phone calls often bring news of a young relative, friend, or colleague's passing, emphasizing that while death is natural, indifference to grieving families is not acceptable. Onanga Ndiaye called for a comprehensive overhaul of the healthcare system, advocating for a more organized and structured system with adequate infrastructure, efficient equipment, and well-trained personnel. He also proposed reactivating medical cooperation with Cuba and increasing the number of Cuban doctors in Gabon.

He acknowledged investments in the health sector, including 44 billion CFA francs for national technical platforms, 6 billion for reopening hospital restaurants, and 5 billion for improving CNAMGS insured care, stressing that health is an investment in human capital. Additionally, he addressed the issue of youth unemployment in a country with a young population of 3.5 million. He urged the government to create more economic activities across the country to generate jobs, especially for vulnerable populations, as the public sector can no longer absorb all job seekers.
