Fortescue Belinga focuses on training, entrepreneurship, and infrastructure in Makokou
From August 25 to 30, Fortescue Belinga conducted various activities in Makokou, including entrepreneur support, economic dialogue, vocational training, and community investments. These initiatives occurred while the Belinga project remains in its exploration and study phase. A program to strengthen the capacities of 20 entrepreneurs was completed in Makokou, in collaboration with Femmes engagées du G6 FEG6 and MDF Global, aiming to prepare local economic actors for opportunities arising from the Belinga project's development. Edward Kalajzic, CEO of Fortescue Belinga, encouraged beneficiaries to transform their training into new economic activities, hoping these skills would lead to new opportunities, increased clientele, job creation, and stronger organizations. The goal is to foster a network of local businesses capable of meeting the province's economic development needs. On August 26, Fortescue Belinga participated in the Ivindo Economic Forum, discussing the project's prospects and potential impacts on employment, training, infrastructure, and public procurement. Exploration work is ongoing beyond Belinga, with drilling having started in Batouala in May and preparations for exploration in Boka Boka.
