SWISS UMEF University Dakar invests 5 million CFA francs in student business ideas
SWISS UMEF University, established in Dakar in 2025, aims to train students to create jobs rather than just seek employment. The institution, located at Rond-Point de la Cit茅 Keur Gorgui, offers programs in management, political science, law, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and robotics. A key initiative is a funding mechanism that provides students with up to 5 million CFA francs for their entrepreneurial projects. This interest-free, unsecured funding is available during or after their studies, with a two-year window to submit a project for evaluation by a committee. The director emphasized that this philosophy is central to their mission of contributing to the development of Senegal and Africa. SWISS UMEF also plans to open four new campuses as part of its expansion in the Senegalese and African higher education landscape, promoting its Swiss academic model, diverse training, and focus on employability to prospective students and professionals.
