Kenya government dismisses reports on Deputy President Kindiki's roles
The Kenyan government has refuted claims that Deputy President Kithure Kindiki's responsibilities were transferred to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. Dennis Itumbi, Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, labeled these reports as "fake news," asserting that Kenya's intergovernmental relations are managed by multiple institutions, not a single office. Itumbi clarified that the National and County Government Coordinating Summit, chaired by President William Ruto, is the highest intergovernmental body. The Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council IBEC, chaired by the Deputy President, serves as the primary forum for national and county government consultations on fiscal and economic matters. He also mentioned the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee IGRTC and the Council of Governors, each with distinct legal mandates. Itumbi stated that suggesting one office has taken over another's constitutional or statutory role is inaccurate.
