
Uasin Gishu police seize KSh 334 million in counterfeit currency, one suspect arrested
Police in Uasin Gishu County have seized counterfeit Kenyan and US currency valued at KSh 334 million, leading to the arrest of one suspect. The fake money was discovered in money boxes inside a Prado vehicle intercepted in Kesses Constituency on August 10, 2026. Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Wilberforce Sicharani confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect is currently held at Eldoret Central Police Station. Two other occupants of the vehicle fled the scene and are now the subject of a police manhunt. The vehicle was reportedly hired from a car rental company in Kisumu. Sicharani described the bust as a significant breakthrough against currency syndicates and urged residents to remain vigilant against counterfeit money scams.
