Nigeria Football Federation dismisses Super Falcons technical crew after World Cup qualification failure
The Nigeria Football Federation NFF has directed the Super Falcons' technical crew to step down immediately. This decision follows the team's unsuccessful campaign to secure an automatic qualification ticket for the 2027 FIFA Women鈥檚 World Cup. The NFF Executive Committee announced the directive on Monday without providing a specific reason. The Super Falcons' World Cup qualification efforts were hampered by a challenging Women鈥檚 Africa Cup of Nations WAFCON campaign, where they lost to Malawi in their opening Group C match. Their WAFCON journey ended in the quarter-finals with a defeat to Cameroon, which prevented automatic World Cup qualification. Subsequently, the team also lost a playoff match against South Africa, further impacting their chances. Nigeria now faces an alternative path to qualify for the World Cup.
