Nigerian Senate committee issues new 72-hour ultimatum to NNPCL, CBN, and others over audit queries

This directive comes after officials from these agencies failed to appear before the committee on Monday to address unresolved audit queries, offering no formal explanation for their absence. Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, Chairman of the committee, stated that the invitations were part of the panel's constitutional oversight responsibilities. Senator Babangida Hussaini expressed displeasure, calling the agencies' absence disrespectful to the National Assembly and urging drastic action.

Senator Patrick Ndubueze also called for sanctions against the defaulting agencies, arguing they should not be given another opportunity. Following deliberations, the committee resolved to issue a final 72-hour ultimatum, directing the affected agencies to appear before it on August 6, warning that non-compliance could lead to further legislative action.
