Nigerian Communications Commission grants Enugu 15-year lease for digital industrial park and learning center

This initiative aims to foster artificial intelligence, startups, digital skills, and technology-driven enterprises. Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, announced the partnership at the handover ceremony in Enugu. He stated that the facilities are intended to be platforms for innovation, entrepreneurship, and human capital development, supporting Enugu State’s goal to attract investment and build capacity in the digital economy.

The agreement tasks Enugu with activating the facilities and developing their economic potential, with the NCC expecting them to support skills acquisition, startup incubation, research, and technology-enabled enterprise. Dr. Maida emphasized that the value of the facilities would be measured by their ability to generate tangible economic opportunities, not just by the buildings or equipment. He linked the initiative to the Federal Government’s broader digital economy agenda and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming for a $1 trillion economy driven by productivity, innovation, and private-sector growth.
