Moroccan midfielder Neil El Aynaoui is reportedly considering an early departure from AS Roma, according to Italian media. Having joined from RC Lens for approximately 23 million euros, El Aynaoui has struggled to secure a regular place in the team. His participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he contributed to the Atlas Lions' victory, marked a turning point in his season. Upon his return, his playing time diminished due to increased competition within the squad. Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini commented on the situation, stating that the AFCON impacted the player's performance. Gasperini noted, "One must be careful when recruiting players who participate in the African Cup. The Neil El Aynaoui before the AFCON is not the same as after the AFCON," adding that "the AFCON is often the cause of such difficulties. He is not the first player to be affected; there are many cases." At 24, the African champion is reportedly seeking a project that offers continuity, rhythm, and responsibility.
