NDC communications team member questions state's handling of Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu's acquittal

Suhuyini stated that claims of the state losing over GH¢90 million were misleading, clarifying that this figure included financial obligations and anticipated profits not disbursed when Tamakloe-Attionu left office. He distinguished this from an alleged GH¢3 million embezzlement. Speaking on JoyNews AM on August 13, 2026, Suhuyini emphasized that the prosecution bore the responsibility to prove embezzlement beyond reasonable doubt, rather than requiring Tamakloe-Attionu to prove her innocence.

He initially worried about the political impact of the Court of Appeal’s decision on the NDC but later focused on justice for the individual, asserting that no political party should compromise a citizen's freedom for political gain. Suhuyini criticized the case's handling under the former Attorney General as 'very shoddy' and doubted the current Attorney General's success in appealing to the Supreme Court, though acknowledging the matter is still before the court. He also suggested that re-prosecuting Tamakloe-Attionu if her acquittal is upheld by the Supreme Court would be legally unsound and could constitute double jeopardy.
