Namibians honor Hage Geingob's governance legacy at University of Namibia event

The event, organized by the Hage Geingob Presidential Centre, also launched the inaugural Dr Hage G Geingob Townhall Conversation. Held on what would have been Geingob's 85th birthday, the platform aims to institutionalize his principles of participatory governance, public dialogue, and effective statecraft. Former president Nangolo Mbumba noted the bittersweet nature of the anniversary, remembering Geingob's impact on the nation and continent.

Mbumba highlighted that Geingob's domestic policies aligned with the African Union Agenda 2063, which envisions good governance, democracy, human rights, justice, and the rule of law in Africa. Veteran politician Peter Katjavivi, chairperson of the Dr Hage Geingob Presidential Centre, emphasized its goal to promote transformational leadership in Namibia and the Southern African Development Community by preserving Geingob's legacy through research and documentation. Former Cabinet minister Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana described Geingob as a political mentor who championed constitutionalism, instilling legal discipline and respect for statutory processes among his followers, and spearheading the drafting of the Namibian Constitution.
