Namibian street dancer Xallamo Gariseb to represent country at international competition

This marks a significant shift for street dance in Namibia, which has historically lacked formal backing for international exposure. The local edition of the competition, which began with a workshop on August 2, culminated in a national final on August 22. The 'Dance Your Style' format features one-on-one battles where dancers improvise to unpredictable music genres, with the crowd serving as judges.

Xallamo, 29, emerged victorious from a field of approximately 80 entrants and will now compete against national champions globally on October 24. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to showcase his passion on a global stage. EMjay the MC, who hosted the event, and Brand X events coordinator Helena Ngaifiwa both highlighted the initiative's importance in recognizing and elevating Namibian street dance talent and providing a pathway to international exposure.
