Namibia to host FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations at Gallina MX Park

Over 180 riders from nine African countries are expected to compete on the 1,320m sand track, which features multiple jumps and a 'whoop' section. The Gallina circuit has undergone extensive upgrades, including improvements to the main entrance, pit areas, wash bays, and environmental controls, to meet FIM regulations. Derick Jacobs, secretary general of the Namibia Motorsport Federation NMSF, stated that this event is significant for Namibia, with almost 200 riders anticipated.

Senegal's participation is pending due to bike transport logistics, with efforts underway to secure local rental bikes. National teams can include up to 40 riders across nine classes, from MX 50 ages five to nine to the masters’ class ages 50 and above. South Africa will field the largest contingent and is the only country bringing a complete team.

The continental championship is expected to bring economic benefits to Namibia through tourism. Preparations began after Namibia secured the hosting bid from the International Motorcycling Federation FIM, which also provided financial assistance for venue upgrades. Participating nations include Angola, Kenya, Madagascar, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and host nation Namibia, with Senegal's entry pending.

The event is sanctioned by FIM Africa, the NMSF, and the Windhoek Motocross Club.
