Namibia and South Africa sign seven agreements to enhance bilateral cooperation

These agreements aim to strengthen cooperation in areas such as labor, aviation, justice, correctional services, public administration, gender equality, and business. Specific accords include a bilateral air services agreement, legal cooperation, and a partnership between the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The leaders, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and President Cyril Ramaphosa, emphasized that these agreements will foster increased trade, investment, and institutional collaboration.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in sectors like energy, mining, transport, agriculture, and public healthcare. Key initiatives include accelerating the Kudu Gas Power Project, strengthening the Trans-Kalahari Corridor, and expanding collaboration in renewable energy and mineral beneficiation. President Nandi-Ndaitwah highlighted the importance of implementation and accountability, suggesting a digital scorecard to monitor progress.

She also acknowledged the unresolved Orange River boundary dispute, expressing hope for a swift resolution.
