
Two school buses carrying 101 pupils involved in road accident in West Pokot
Two school buses transporting 101 pupils were involved in a road traffic incident in Riting Area, West Pokot county. Thirteen pupils, comprising six males and seven females, were rushed to Kapenguria Referral Hospital for medical attention. The Kenya Red Cross confirmed the number of children on board and stated that psychosocial support is being provided to those affected, while teachers and the remaining students have been moved to a designated safe holding area. Response teams from Kenya Red Cross branches in West Pokot and Turkana counties, alongside county ambulances, an additional ambulance from KENGEN, and National Police Service officers, were deployed to the scene. Photos from the scene showed both buses badly damaged and lying on their sides with shattered windows. The cause of the crash has not yet been established, and authorities have not confirmed any fatalities.
