Nabil Fahmy warns against Israeli settlement plans in Negev and Galilee, citing threats to Arab citizens' rights

Fahmy warned that these policies threaten the status of Arab towns and limit the powers of local planning and land authorities. He stated that the discrimination in these plans reflects a dangerous escalation of racist tendencies within Israeli society, entrenching exclusion policies at the expense of equality and the fundamental rights of Arab citizens. He cautioned about severe social and political repercussions if these discriminatory measures become official state policy.

Fahmy noted that these developments align with a broader pattern of Israeli actions to create new realities on the ground, primarily through settlement expansion that undermines the viability of a Palestinian state, breaches international law, and jeopardizes prospects for a lasting political settlement. He stressed that the international community must confront these policies and safeguard the foundations for an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital. He reaffirmed the two-state solution as the only path to achieving security, stability, and enduring peace in the region.
