Mourinho reveals he signed Manchester United deal in 2013 before joining Chelsea

Mourinho stated he was flattered by the offer, considering Manchester United's appeal. Sir Alex Ferguson, who retired at the end of the 2012/13 season, also appeared in the documentary, recalling that Mourinho informed him of his decision to take the role before later changing his mind. Ferguson recounted Mourinho calling him, crying, and explaining he could not take the position because he had given his word to Chelsea and would not break it.

Mourinho subsequently joined Chelsea for a second spell in 2013, while David Moyes replaced Ferguson at Manchester United. Mourinho eventually became United manager in 2016, succeeding Louis van Gaal, and during his two-and-a-half-year tenure at Old Trafford, he won the Europa League, Carabao Cup, and Community Shield. Mourinho also mentioned that the deal was agreed upon with Ferguson and the club's hierarchy, but the plan did not materialize after Ferguson changed his mind and recommended Moyes as his successor.
