Moroccan airports significantly reduce border control waiting times
Travelers at Moroccan airports are experiencing reduced waiting times at border controls. In the first half of 2026, the average departure passport control time was 3.6 minutes, a 24% decrease from the same period in 2025. Arrival times dropped to 9.6 minutes, a 22% reduction year-on-year, according to Airports of Morocco. Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, the country's main aviation hub, saw arrival control times decrease by 54% to 5.4 minutes, down from nearly 12 minutes a year prior. Departure times at Mohammed V Airport were reduced by 70% to 2.25 minutes, from approximately 7.5 minutes in the first half of 2025. Marrakech-Menara Airport, the second largest, recorded a 16% decrease in arrival control times to 6.86 minutes and a 22.5% improvement in departure times to 5.09 minutes compared to the previous year. Other airports also showed improvements, with Tanger reducing arrival times by 52% to 11.93 minutes. F猫s Airport achieved one of the best departure times at 1.53 minutes, while Agadir maintained arrival times under ten minutes. Airports of Morocco attributes these improvements to the efforts of all airport stakeholders, including the General Directorate of National Security and the Ministry of Interior, which have strengthened and optimized border controls while maintaining high safety and security standards.
