Minister Abdourahmane Diouf criticizes Ousmane Sonko over special credits bill
Dr. El Hadji Abdourahmane Diouf, Minister of Petroleum and Deputy General Supervisor of the KIIRAAY / Les Patriotes R茅publicains coalition, has strongly criticized the National Assembly's proposed bill on special credits. He accuses the parliamentary majority and its president, Ousmane Sonko, of "double-speak" towards religious communities. Diouf argues that Sonko's recent tour of religious cities contradicts the actual content of the bill, stating, "What he proposes to the National Assembly has nothing to do with what he told our religious leaders," and denouncing a "deep moral problem." The minister highlights Article 2 of the parliamentary proposal, which limits special credits "exclusively" to defense, security, and intelligence, and Article 5, which explicitly excludes social spending. He describes this as "anti-social and anti-religious credits," claiming it closes the door to solidarity with vulnerable populations. In contrast, Diouf praises the Executive's amendments, which reintroduce "the preservation of social order" and "humanitarian values, mutual aid, and solidarity," concluding that "Where the Assembly excludes, the Executive includes."
