RBZ hails 2.9% August ZiG inflation as milestone
The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe RBZ has lauded the 2.9% August ZiG inflation rate as a significant achievement. This development comes amidst other national news, including the towing ashore of the Mbuya Nehanda ferry as investigators probe a Kariba disaster, and Zimbabwe's aim for a 965,000-tonne strategic grain reserve surplus following a bumper harvest. Additionally, two Bulawayo councillors are reportedly on the run, while others have withdrawn from a US$52,000 extortion bail bid. The government has also raised concerns over the decreasing number of male teachers, and ZIMRA intercepted 4.3 tonnes of smuggled meat at an illegal Beitbridge crossing.
