Egyptian food industry exports reach record $4.47 billion in first seven months of 2026
Egyptian food industry exports achieved their highest value in the sector's history, reaching approximately $4.473 billion from January to July 2026. This marks an increase of $433 million and a growth rate of 10.7% compared to the $4.040 billion recorded during the same period in 2025. Mahmoud Bazan, Chairman of the Export Council for Food Industries, attributed this performance to improved competitiveness of Egyptian products and companies' ability to expand into foreign markets, supported by production base diversification and increased added value. Export growth was observed across 114 markets, with the European Union leading international groups in growth rate. The second quarter of 2026 significantly contributed to this growth, with exports rising to $2.054 billion, an increase of $280 million and 15.8% growth over the same period last year. This quarter accounted for approximately 65% of the total increase in the sector's exports during the first seven months. Exports in July alone reached approximately $653 million, an increase of $27 million and 4.3% growth.
