Senegal's budget revenues increase by 32.4 billion FCFA in May 2026
Senegal's total budget revenues reached 427.9 billion FCFA in May 2026, an increase of 8.2% or 32.4 billion FCFA compared to April 2026, according to the National Agency of Statistics and Demography Ansd. This growth was driven by a 55.1 billion FCFA rise in tax revenues, despite a 22.7 billion FCFA decrease in non-tax revenues. Year-on-year, total revenues showed a 12.4% increase from May 2025, supported by combined growth in both tax and non-tax revenues. Conversely, Senegal's trade balance deteriorated to -13.3 billion FCFA from +1.5 billion FCFA the previous month, a decline of 14.8 billion FCFA. This was primarily due to a 44.8 billion FCFA decrease in exports, despite a 30.0 billion FCFA reduction in imports. The contraction in exports was mainly caused by a drop in sales of non-monetary gold, titanium, liquefied natural gas, and fresh vegetables. The decline in imports was largely attributed to reduced purchases of motor machinery and equipment, and cereal products.
