Iberia significantly reduces flights between Madrid and Algiers for summer 2026
Iberia has drastically cut its flight schedule between Madrid-Barajas and Algiers-Houari Boumédiène for the summer 2026 season. The airline's service, initially planned for daily flights, has been reduced to only two weekly rotations. This significant reduction, which represents over a 70% decrease, will remain in effect until October 24, 2026, impacting connectivity during the peak summer travel period. The two remaining weekly flights, operated by Air Nostrum using Canadair CRJ1000 aircraft, will depart Madrid at 4:25 PM, arriving in Algiers at 5:00 PM. The return flight will leave Algiers at 6:00 PM, landing in Madrid at 8:35 PM. No official reason has been provided for this decision, which comes at a time of high demand for travel between Algeria and Europe. Air Algérie remains the primary direct flight option on the Algiers-Madrid route. Other airlines like Vueling offer connections between Barcelona and Alicante to Algerian cities, while Volotea plans to launch new routes to Algiers from Valencia and Murcia starting in November.
