On August 26, around 2 AM, the on-duty doctor at the Yeumbeul Health Center informed the Yeumbeul police station of the arrival of a lifeless person. According to her boyfriend's statements, Niang attempted an abortion at a specific health facility. After experiencing pain from the treatment, her boyfriend claims she received an infusion at her home, after which she lost consciousness. She was then taken to the Yeumbeul Health Center, where she was pronounced dead. Her boyfriend and the person who brought her to the health center were apprehended by investigators. They were initially held for questioning and subsequently arrested for failure to assist a person in danger, as instructed by the public prosecutor. An autopsy has been ordered. The boyfriend, Cheikh Dia, reportedly stated that he was not the father of the pregnancy, claiming another individual was responsible and had suggested the abortion to Niang.
