Manasseh Azure Awuni expresses concern over GoldBod debate between Afenyo-Markin and Sammy Gyamfi

The discussion centers on over US$1.7 billion in losses from the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme DGPP in 2025, as reported by the International Monetary Fund IMF. Azure noted Afenyo-Markin's recent claim that the losses were incurred under the Bank of Ghana's Gold Purchase Programme, with GoldBod playing a role, which Azure believes could impact accountability. He emphasized that the focus should be on accountability and preventing future losses, rather than on whether GoldBod or the Bank of Ghana was solely responsible.

Azure also criticized the personal attacks between Gyamfi and Afenyo-Markin, arguing that these allegations have diverted attention from the primary goal of ensuring accountability. The Minority Leader has reportedly threatened legal action over extortion allegations made by the GoldBod CEO.
