Makokou-Mékambo-Ekata road project receives 144 pieces of equipment to accelerate construction

On August 24, 2026, Maripoma Gabon presented a significant fleet of new machinery and vehicles at Angondjé, in the presence of the Minister of Public Works and Construction, Edgard Moukoumbi. This equipment, including 42 pick-up trucks, 32 trucks, 12 compactors, 9 graders, 6 bulldozers, 6 tank carriers, 6 tanker trucks, and 4 hydraulic excavators, will be transported to Ogooué-Ivindo to transition the 260-kilometer project from preparation to operational phase. This deployment is a highly anticipated signal for the populations of Makokou and Mékambo, who have been awaiting the effective start of the project.

Minister Moukoumbi emphasized that this is the longest stretch of development in Ogooué-Ivindo, crucial for mobility and economic development. The government, under President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, aims for this infrastructure to be a tool for territorial transformation, addressing a delay in infrastructure development.
