Nigerian Army intensifies operations against terrorist networks in Katsina, Zamfara
The Nigerian military has launched "Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV" under "Operation FANSAN YAMMA" to combat terrorist and armed criminal groups in Katsina and Zamfara states. The Theatre Command, Joint Task Force North West, stated that this coordinated offensive aims to disrupt terrorist networks, degrade their capabilities, and prevent the infiltration and expansion of terrorist activities across the North West. Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, confirmed that the operation involves simultaneous ground and air operations. In Katsina State, troops of Sector 2 conducted a clearance operation in Dutsinma Local Government Area on August 12, forcing terrorists to abandon their positions. In Zamfara State, the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA carried out precision strikes in Anka Local Government Area, neutralizing terrorists and forcing survivors to flee. A key objective of Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV is to dismantle the Lakurawa terrorist network, prevent their infiltration into Nigeria, and deny them the use of border areas, the River Niger axis, and Kainji Lake National Park for operations.
